What is the best footwear for an adventure elopement?
When having an adventure elopement, first consider the location you and your partner have chosen. Here in Alaska, you’ll likely default to a form of comfortable hiking boots if you’re on a glacier, in the mountains, or in the woods. Off the coast or rivers, if we’re fishing, Xtratufs are SO Alaskan and work great! Choose the appropriate wear for your destination so you can be the most comfortable and warm. Sorels and Timberlands are really cute hiking boots and they can still work great on Glaciers because we offer ice cleats to help with traction and stability on the ice. As well as warm socks, my personal favorite is Darn Tough.
When choosing your ideal footwear, the number one rule is to make sure you break them in and get your shoes comfortable. Ladies, you want to make sure you can be fully mobile, so practice with your dress and wear them around your house before your adventure. The last thing you want to worry about is having sore feet and blisters on your wedding day.
There are so many choices to embrace your style and still be practical. After all, there’s a reason why you are choosing an adventure elopement and I always appreciate an opportunity to make your day memorable!

What is the best dress for an adventure elopement?
When trying on your dress, move around, twirl, feel the flow and make sure it’s not constricting. A dress that opens at the waist and flows is going to be your best bet when it comes to adventure elopements so you can easily access the best views and spot for your ceremony.
Believe it or not, but a long train is *PERFECT* for adventures because you can easily swing your train over your arm or have your partner help hold it up as you hike yourself up the terrain. Trains are also so amazing for photos! You can throw it up, let it drag through the glacier, and as you lift it up, you get that awesome peak of your adventure boots!

Accessories for fashion + weather:
You can keep warm by accessorizing in glamorous shawls, furs, and knits. Borrow that coat that‘s been passed down by your grandmother or find something ‘new’ to add to your something blue. We love hats, fun sunglasses, and even a cape! Think of complementary layers that will keep you warm while you enjoy your first gourmet picnic as newlyweds.

What should I wear to keep warm?
LAYERS! :) Even in the summer in Alaska, the weather around glaciers can have quite the chill sometimes. I encourage you to layer under your dress and suit. Those are never seen in the photos, I use excellent photographers that are great at directing and taking candid shots at the right angles. If you are eloping on a Glacier it will be 15 degrees cooler than where the helicopter will depart from. You should always bring a coat and a raincoat just in case you might need it.
